Education and Associations:
Bob Hiscox has been a resident of
Prospect for the past 32 years. He resides with his wife Madeleine, on
Matthew Street. Bob has a number of advanced college degrees and is
employed as a high school biology teacher at Newington High School. He has
nearly four decades of experience with the needs of our public schools. Bob
has been honored as a teacher of the year in the Newington School District.
He has served on a number of NEAS&C high school accreditation teams and, as
a member of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, he
has evaluated a number of college teacher preparation programs. Bob has
been involved in educational programs across the nation and internationally.
He recently served as a representative to the State Department of Education
Teacher Certification Review Commission.

Public Service
Bob currently serves as a member of the
Region 16 Board of Education. He served as chairman of the Planning and
Zoning Commission for 10 years prior to moving to the Board of Ed. He is a
past chairman of the Republican Town Committee and a member of the Prospect
Land Trust. In the past Bob has served the town as Chairman of the
Inland-Wetlands Committee and has frequently been elected as moderator of
various town meetings. Bob has also given freely of his time as a former
tee-ball coach and girls basketball coach. Bob was a member of the PTO’s at
Algonquin, Community and Long River Middle Schools. As a former member of
the Prospect Jaycees, Bob devoted many hours to the Region 16 Special
Olympics Program. Bob also assisted on early proposals for the development
of our Regional High School.
As Planning and Zoning Chairman Bob led
the Commission’s work on the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development, as
well as a comprehensive review of all zoning regulations. As a member of
the Board of Education he has worked hard to insure that current educational
expenditures are in the best interests of our students and meet the needs of
our community in difficult economic times.
