Welcome to Mayor Bob's Corner.

"Prospect's Best Friend"

More about Mayor Robert Chatfield

Robert J. Chatfield, “Mayor Bob”, was elected Mayor of the

Town of Prospect on November 7, 1977.

He is a 40-year member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.

Among his numerous other titles are;

Director of Public Works

Former chairman of the Bristol Resources Recovery Facility Operating Committee,

Former chairman of Tunxis Recycling Operating Committee,

three time chairman of Council of Governments

Former chairman of Council of Small Towns

Member of the Prospect Cemetery Association

Member of the Northeast Forest Fire Compact

Member of the Waterbury Area Fire Chief’s Association

New Haven County Emergency Plan

Former member of the State Fire Commission

Former member of State of Connecticut Police Officers Standard and Training Council.

Mayor Bob also serves as a Justice of the Peace and is listed in “Who’s Who” in America.

Education:

Mayor Bob attended the Prospect school system and graduated from W.F. Kaynor Regional Technical High School of Waterbury, CT.  He entered the United States Air Force and served from October of 1961 to October of 1965 and was stationed in Germany for three years.

Since 1977, Mayor Bob has been recognized for his efforts by numerous organizations such as the Prospect Little League, the Prospect Jaycees, the Prospect VFW Post 8075 and the Prospect-Naugatuck Pop Warner Football League to name a few.

Mayor Bob, his wife Ginny and daughter Leslie are lifelong residents of Prospect.  He is well known for his “round the clock” dedication to the town and its residents.  In fact, several years ago, he adamantly disagreed with a state ranking selected by a local magazine, and began a campaign promoting Prospect as “the best small town in Connecticut” and it has become a standard designation for Prospect.

He is currently the longest serving chief elected official in Connecticut and his motto, “If you can’t find it in the yellow pages, just call the Mayor’s office”, is an indication of his dedication to Prospect.  His door is always open to the public and that is why he is affectionately known as “Mayor Bob”.
