Prospect Republican Town Committee Meeting

May 13, 2008 – 7:00 pm – Lower Level Town Hall

Agenda

 Call to Order

 Pledge

 New Business

1.      Marty Atkins has express some preliminary interest in seeking the Republican nomination to go after Vickie in the 89th.....If he's back from vacation, hopefully we can give him some strong encouragement, as the Connecticut Republicans are really looking to take a run at all contests, and due to her record on 'Three Strikes', she may be vulnerable this time.

2.      We do have someone who has a term running out and who will need to be on the November ballot.....I am please to announce that Kathy VanderEyk has indicated that shes ready for another 2-year term as our Registrar of Voters, a job that get tougher every time around.

3.      On January 5, 2009, our 18 Republican 'Justice of the Peace' incumbents current 4-year term expires, and will need to be reappointed.  I've listed our current 'Justices' below, as as we have 20 slots, we are looking for some additional names:

Atkins, Marty

Jones, Joyce

Chatfield, Bob

Marczewski, Rosemary

Delage, Marie

Merriman, Doug

Fisher, Gwen

Miller, Ed

Galvin, Tom

Mitchell, Barry

Griffen, Keith

Smedes, Sarah

Hanson, Theodore

Vaillancourt, Patricia

Havican, George

VanderEyk, Louis

Hiscox, Bob

Van Kirk, John

These names don't appear on the November Ballot, but we need to endorse them, and submit the list to our Town Clerk.

A few more items.....as you know, the Region 16 Budget passed 432-371 in Prospect, but not by enough to offset the 427-215 against vote in Beacon Falls.  I understand that the 2nd vote on it may not happen until May 27th.

Please remember, the referendum on the 'Town Budget' is Monday, May 12th from 6:00am to 8:00pm at Community School....I hoping that all of you can help make sure this passes...have a great weekend..Tom G.
